At present there are no records as to Duncan's parentage. Flora was born to Duncan Campbell and Bethia Millar who were married on Dec.14 1832 in Gorbals Parish.Bethia died in 1835 when Flora was a baby.Her father remarried and her half brother Alex.was born in 1836.What happened to her stepmother is not known,but when Duncan Campbell died of asthma in 1845,and Flora and Alex. were brought up by her mother Bethia's sister Margaret and her husband who lived in Anderston.
